High School Students From Michigan and California Take Top Spots in FCA Drive for Design Competition

May 8, 2020, Auburn Hills, Mich. – Three students from Michigan and California have taken the top spots in this year’s FCA Drive for Design contest. Entries submitted from high school students in grades 10-12 from across the country were reviewed virtually by FCA’s automotive design team and special guest judge Josh Welton. This year’s 10-week competition asked students to sketch a Ram truck of the future. “All of the entries were impressive, the work was very focused with a notable attention to detail, as well as their thought process – these are characteristics we look for when we go to hire designers to work for FCA,” said Mark Trostle, Head of Ram Truck and Mopar Exterior Design for FCA – North America. “Automotive design is a growing field and often overlooked by parents and students, our goal is to inspire and change that perspective. There are many career paths available within automotive design where young designers will have the opportunity to create some of the most ex

Rebel TRX Rendered

Hellcat Rebel TRX render looks a whole lot like the 2016 concept, except with modern design aspects. We don’t know when the Ram 1500 with the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat Hemi is coming but we know that it is—soon. The most recent hint to Ram 1500 Rebel TRX production was the artwork for the 2020 FCA Drive for Design contest, which shows a bright yellow pickup with the modern front end styling paired with obvious design cues of the 2016 concept truck. Having seen that poster artwork, we asked our amazing automotive artist, Pouria Savadkouei, to essentially combine the key features of the 2016 concept with the styl

FCA Design Team Seeks High School Students to Design the Future of Ram Truck February 20, 2020 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Without a nudge from an art teacher, a visit to an art school or just plain luck, some of the world’s top automotive designers may never have made their mark on history. Mark Trostle, Head of Ram Truck Design at FCA, wants to change that. Eight years ago, he revived a contest he won as a high school student that helped drive him to where he is today, leading the design efforts for some of the most desired vehicles on the road. The 2020 Drive for Design contest challenges U.S. high school students in grades 10-12 to sketch a Ram truck of the future. And, just like in the professional world, there is a level of urgency – entries are due by May 1, 2020. Three students will be named winners from all valid entries received. “The landscape of automotive design has changed and today’s automotive designers not only sketch cars, they create some of the most adv
