At the Chinese debut of the Polestar 2 in Shanghai, Polestar confirmed that production of the new electric performance fastback will take place in Luqiao, Zhejiang Province, from early 2020. Owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding and operated by Volvo Cars, the Luqiao production facility will produce Polestar 2 alongside other world-class models from Volvo and Lynk & Co. which share the core CMA platform with Polestar 2. Polestar 2 is the first car on the modular chassis to feature a fully electric drivetrain. “Being able to produce Polestar 2 in the Luqiao plant in China shows the clear synergies of our ownership structure and gives us a great industrial advantage,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer at Polestar. “With Geely and Volvo Cars as our owners, we are able to leverage their expertise in many different ways. Volvo Cars is making its groundbreaking, industry-first connected safety technology available across Europe as another step in its ambitions to improve traffic safety. The technology allows Volvo cars to communicate with each other and alert drivers of nearby slippery road conditions and hazards via a cloud based network. Hazard Light Alert and Slippery Road Alert were first introduced in 2016 on Volvo’s 90 Series cars in Sweden and Norway. Next week the features become available to Volvo drivers across Europe. Buick Debuts All-New Encore, Encore GX and GL8 Avenir Concept, and Launches VELITE 6 MAV in China SHANGHAI – Buick’s all-new Encore small SUV, Encore GX compact SUV and GL8 Avenir concept MPV made their global debut this evening at 2019 Buick Brand Night in Shanghai. They were joined by the VELITE 6 MAV electric vehicle, which was launched in China. All four products will be on display at Auto Shanghai 2019 starting from tomorrow.
