Pacific Coast Highway | Proteus Jaguar D-Type

Jaaaag! No Jag.

Thanks, but no thanks. This is the very nightmare sentence of coach builders and design houses.
Bertone's B99 concept was rejected by Jaguar. "I saw it for the first time yesterday," Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, said last week at the Geneva auto show.
"It is not our concept. We appreciate the fact that Jaguar is interesting enough for people to do a concept around. It's not that we are offended by it, or against it - it is just not for us."
These were the words of Volvo some twenty-something years ago when Bertone showed its interpretation of a Volvo sportscar, that later became the famous 480 with its distinctive styling. The same was for Zagato after showing its guttwrenching Raptor concept in 1996, which was a proposal for Lamborghini as the almighty Diablo's successor. Then ItalDesign had to hear the same, in the case of Cala. The fact is that Jag's small sedan in due to be out in 2013 or 2014. "We want to access these new segments," said Hallmark. But he said a design for the car has not been chosen. "We have concepts all over the place," he said. "A lot of work has been done."

The aesthetic of modern luxury is characterised by timeless beauty, a combination of high-grade technology and craftsmanship as well as a reduction to what is really important. The aim is to spark a desire for the brand. The atmosphere created by the design conveys a reduced, but not distant appearance that is modern and timeless. Black and silver are the dominant colours that create a stage for highlights, but also stage innovations to be complemented by a warm colour range. Natural materials, such as leather and wood give a feeling of being approachable and can be harmoniously combined with technical and innovative highlights. Modern graphic elements that quote the typical Mercedes style idioms or pick up on the brand make the brand identity stronger. Exterior design: sporty, dynamic, emotional Characteristic exterior design elements of Mercedes-Benz vehicles include the striking radiator grilles, dynamic side lines and sensually traversing surfaces that largely do away ...
