Can This American Hustler Drag McLaren to a Second Title?

An excellent vlog. Just one omission. It was subsequently learned that when Lando hit the back of Oscars car at the Canadian GP, Oscars car had slowed suddenly. Not by a lot but by enough to result in Lando crashing into Oscar's car as Lando pulled left to attempt a pass. Why did Oscar's car slow? He had depleted the battery staving off Lando down the previous straight where Lando had the DRS to help him get alongside before he had to brake entering the chicane. It ran out or energy just as Lando was about to attempt the pass. Andrea Stella reported this information the day following the GP but very few in the media picked up on it. All credit to Lando for accepting the blame but I have to believe that Oscar felt his car slow when the battery died. The electric motor adds around 150 bhp to the ICE engine. He must have known, and presumably thought he'd got away with it when Lando took the blame. It was his fault as he'd hit Oscar's car, but he wasn't stupid. He ...

TAG Heuer celebrates 100th anniversary of the Indy 500

TAG HEUER'S LIMITED EDITION INDY 500 CENTENNIAL CHRONOGRAPH CELEBRATES THE "GREATEST SPECTACLE IN RACING"

INDIANAPOLIS, May 26, 2011 – For 150 years, TAG Heuer has stood at the forefront of designing exceptional timing instruments used for competitive sports, most notably automotive racing, in which capturing the tiniest fraction of a second can determine the victor. To commemorate this remarkable milestone of mastering speed and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," the brand today announced the official watch of the Indy 500, the TAG Heuer Limited Edition, Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph.

The Limited Edition Chronograph boasts a grey stylized dial patterned after the famed "Yard of Bricks" start/finish line of the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway and a printed "INDY 500" logo inside the counter at 6 o'clock. Its distinctive case back marks the 100 year anniversary of the great race.

Inspired by a racecar's dashboard, the 44 mm dial hosts three counters: a small second at 3 o'clock, a chronograph minutes counter with double hands at 9 o'clock, and a 1/10th of second counter at 6 o'clock. The date window, which is positioned at 12 o'clock, is flanked by hand-applied indexes, as well as luminescent hands and markers for optimum readability.

Other distinguishing details include a fixed polished bezel with a tachymeter scale in black and "INDY 500" in red and a fine-brushed, 44mm steel case with scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It is also water resistant to 200 meters.

A fitting tribute to the 100th anniversary celebration of the world's largest single-day spectator sporting event, the Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph is available in a limited quantity of 1000 pieces. It is offered on a choice of black rubber strap or polished steel bracelet for about $1650.

The TAG Heuer Limited Edition Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph will be presented to the winner of the Indy 500 on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
