Ssangyong Motor Company unveils rendering of the "XIV-1" premium CUV concept car
  • Design based on concepts such as "joy of travel," "setting up a new culture of driving," and "space for communication on the road."
  • Ingenious expression of ‘Robust Aesthetics Realization' being pursued by Ssangyong Motor Company.
  • The "XIV-1" premium CUV concept car is being developed as Ssangyong's strategic model for the global market.
Ssangyong Motor Company(President & CEO Lee Yoo-il; www.smotor.com) , part of the US$12.5 billion Mahindra Group, unveiled a rendering of its premium CUV concept car "XIV-1" amid much fanfare on the 29th. The car will make its debut at the 64th Frankfurt International Motor Show to be held in Germany in September.
The"XIV-1" is a premium crossover utility vehicle (CUV) concept car that was developed by Ssangyong as a strategic model for the global market. On top of offering premium performance, safety and environmental-friendliness, its design is based on concepts, such as the "joy of travel" and the "space for communication on the road" as it looks to bring about an evolution in driving culture.
The "XIV-1" is composed of the initials for "Exciting User Interface Vehicle," which represents how the means of transportation will develop amid the changing social and consumer atmospheres. It also hints at where Ssangyong's products are headed - to enable two-way communication between the vehicle and the driver through the use of mobile devices, such as smartphones, and adding to the joy of driving through an IT-based user interface.
Most of all, the "XIV-1" doubles the joy of driving thanks to its perfect proportions and use of space where agility, speed, and power coexist. The car suggests "Each One & All Together" as a new concept in interior design that allows for diverse interior settings: All seats move and turn at the behest of the passenger to satisfy their specific privacy and communication requirements.
The"XIV-1" uses the ‘B' Pillarless Coach Door Open Type and a full-glass roof, which aims to maximize the sensation of openness and symbolizes the full time online network that the car provides based on keywords, such as ‘endless communication'.
"The ‘XIV-1' focuses on realizing a future-oriented design based on our heritage, and is based on our product philosophy of ‘Robust, Specialty, and Premium," said a spokesperson for Ssangyong Motor Company. "We believe that the vehicle, created based on a simple, dynamic and strong aesthetic value, will show the supremacy of our ingenious design." he added.
