Top Finalists Announced in All World Car Awards Categories GENEVA - March 5, 2013 - For Immediate Release At a press conference hosted by Bridgestone Corporation and the New York International Auto Show at the Geneva International Motor Show, the top finalists for the World Car of the Year, World Performance Car, World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year awards were announced today. The overall winners in all categories will be declared at the New York International Auto Show on Thursday, March 28, 2013.

Lamborghini announces the appointment of a new Commercial Director

Automobili Lamborghini announces the appointment of a new Commercial Director, joining the Executive Committee led by President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. Thomas Felbermair will join Lamborghini as Commercial Director, effective 1st May 2013. Thomas Felbermair (47), holds a degree in engineering and has a broad experience in the automotive sector. He has held various positions in Sales organisations with a focus on motorsport activities, and until now has been in charge as Head of Sales at Audi AG for the German Market. Thomas Felbermair will replace Fintan Knight, who leaves Lamborghini and the Volkswagen Group to pursue a new professional challenge. Automobili Lamborghini thanks Fintan Knight for his contribution during his time at Lamborghini.

1985 Audi Sport Quattro: The Group B Homologation Special

In Austria in 1980, just a year after four-wheel drive cars became eligible to compete in the WRC, Audi debuted the first Quattro rally car and forever changed the sport. Over the next half of the decade (and onwards, if you count the Pikes Peak specials), these Audis would be subjected to a period of rapid iterative evolution that led to the short-wheelbase Sport Quattro models that helped define the infamously fast and dangerous era of Group B rallying. The relatively lax nature of the Group B regulations gave rise to a number of downright ferocious cars from Audi’s competitors (most notable being Lancia and Peugeot), and while it was not the most successful nor technologically advanced of these top tier cars by the end of the Group B era, the Sport Quattro is a worthy poster child for the lot of them—being first to the punch has its advantages.
