2X Chiron + Next 911 Testing on NRing

Wondering why? You're not alone. One thing is for sure. This is not a simple high-speed testing. On one hand the "entry-level/stock" Chiron is electronically limited to 261 mph (420 kph), however Andy Wallace, the official test-driver of Bugatti, told that this top speed is only because of the current tires. And we all know this speed is not exactly something we would call user-friendly . Even 400 kph might be dangerous . But more than 280 mph (450 kph) is achievable with this car. Even 300 mph. On the second hand the Nurburgring is not the right track for chasing high-speed aspirations. Don't forget that just recently Bugatti has presented the Chiron Sport in Geneva . So this can only mean that a new Bugatti is in the pipeline. Might not even be a Chiron... And there is always the Winklemann -factor. Remember all those limited edition Lamborghinis? Something is telling us that the president of Bugatti is planning a surprise. We wouldn't go as far as Galibier...

Lucid Air: First Stability Test at 217mph

In preparation for production, Lucid Air alpha prototypes are undergoing a rigorous development program. With  winter testing  complete, we now turn our testing program to spring and summer activities. We recently designated one of our test prototypes as a high-performance test vehicle and installed a roll-cage for safety purposes. This Alpha Speed Car will be used for evaluating at-the-limit performance. For the Alpha Speed Car’s first test session, we headed to TRC Ohio’s 7.5-mile oval test track to evaluate high-speed behaviors, including vehicle stability and powertrain thermal management. The test, software-limited to 217mph (350km/h), was successful in demonstrating the capabilities of the car and in finding areas for improvement that could not be properly evaluated in static bench tests. Real-world tests are an important part of the engineering process, allowing the team to correlate computer simulation models with real-world performance. The collected data wil...
