The open-top 911 continues in a decades-long tradition, established when Porsche unveiled the prototype of the first 911 Cabriolet at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in September 1981: customers and fans alike were instantly captivated. The first open-top 911 variant rolled off the production line in 1982, and it has been a constant feature in the model range ever since. The open version of the 911, which marks the start in 2019 of an unprecedented product fireworks display, has all the innovations of the coupe. One of the Cabriolet-specific advanced features is the new hydraulic system which get the roof opened and closed more quickly. SSC Tuatara Hypercar Earns World’s “Fastest Production Vehicle” Title Tuatara Breaks World Records, as Racer, Oliver Webb Achieves 331MPH SSC North America, America’s first hypercar company, has reclaimed the coveted title of world’s “Fastest Production Vehicle,” this time with its 1,750hp Tuatara. With internationally acclaimed professional racing driver, Oliver Webb, at the Tuatara’s wheel, the record-breaking drive took place on the morning of Saturday, October 10, outside of Las Vegas near Pahrump, Nevada along a seven-mile stretch of State Route 160. Webb pushed the SSC Tuatara to an average speed of 316.11 mph (508.73 km/h) following two consecutive high-speed test runs of 301.07 mph (484.53 km/h) and 331.15 mph (532.93 km/h).
