The Veyron Story

In 1997, on the “Shinkansen” express train between Tokyo and Nagoya, a sketch was created that would change the automotive world. Following a discussion with the then Head of Powertrain Development at VW, Karl-Heinz Neumann, he drew on an envelope – he had had the idea for a long time – an engine with 18 cylinders. Powerful, strong and better than anything else. The man was Ferdinand Karl Piëch, a gifted engineer and long-time CEO and Chairman of the Volkswagen Group – and the driving force behind the development of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. The first hyper sports car of modern times was a true pioneering achievement and wrote automotive history at its launch in 2005. The coupé was the first series production car to produce more than 1,000 PS and to drive faster than 400 km/h. The Veyron was an engineering masterpiece. Bugatti working from home – Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann

Bugatti has suspended production of its vehicles such as the Chiron1 and Divo2 in Molsheim. Nevertheless, a large number of employees are still working – from home and in compliance with the recommendations of the corresponding authorities, international experts and government measures. Stephan Winkelmann, who has been President of Bugatti since 2018, is currently mainly managing the French company from his home in Strasbourg, France. This includes meetings with the security staff and the Facility Manager. “Even though I am now working from home like many other employees, no day is ever the same during this difficult time. However, thanks to digital processes and communication channels, we are still able to work and keep on developing our extraordinary hyper sports cars,” explains St...

Ex-Lamborghini Top-Manager Stefan Winkelmann Leaving Audi Sport For Bugatti

Winkelman was the "toreador" of Lamborghini from 2005 to 2016 before moving to run Audi's performance division. Being the CEO of Audi Sport since March 2016, by the end of this year the 52-year old German will replace current Bugatti head Wolfgang Dürheimer. What might this mean? Maybe not much. Maybe they will manage to finally build a not-so-boring Bugatti afterall? We'll see. But first there's an Audi hypercar in the pipeline. This time is more believable, than ever. He knows a thing or two how to manage supercars.
