1 OCTOBER 2019 Porsche builds another 500 new jobs: The company increases production in Zuffenhausen for the first purely electrically powered sports car. This is Porsche's response to the great worldwide demand for the electric sports car, which celebrated its world premiere at the beginning of September. After the completion of a Depositor programme, far more than 20,000 prospective buyers had signed up. Orders received to date also indicate strong demand. As part of the new introduction of the Taycan, the sports car manufacturer is creating a total of 2,000 new jobs at its headquarters in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Taycan's original production capacity was 20,000 units. This continues to be the requirement for the first year of production. By increasing its workforce by the end of the second quarter of 2020, Porsche is providing itself with the necessary flexibility to be able to produce more units if necessary. Porsche has teamed up with Apple Music to create the first fully integrated music streaming experience inside the much-anticipated Porsche Taycan, the first fully electric Porsche vehicle launching in September. From the touchscreen display in the Porsche Advanced Cockpit, Apple Music subscribers can stream over 50 million songs ad-free, thousands of curated playlists, and the Beats 1 global livestream with three-year complimentary in-car internet data. SSC Tuatara Hypercar Earns World’s “Fastest Production Vehicle” Title Tuatara Breaks World Records, as Racer, Oliver Webb Achieves 331MPH SSC North America, America’s first hypercar company, has reclaimed the coveted title of world’s “Fastest Production Vehicle,” this time with its 1,750hp Tuatara. With internationally acclaimed professional racing driver, Oliver Webb, at the Tuatara’s wheel, the record-breaking drive took place on the morning of Saturday, October 10, outside of Las Vegas near Pahrump, Nevada along a seven-mile stretch of State Route 160. Webb pushed the SSC Tuatara to an average speed of 316.11 mph (508.73 km/h) following two consecutive high-speed test runs of 301.07 mph (484.53 km/h) and 331.15 mph (532.93 km/h).
