Mission accomplished: Ford introduces Mustang Mach-E 1400, an all-electric road rocket that shows just how much performance can be harnessed without using a drop of gas. Coming hot on the heels of the 1,400-horsepower all-electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, this one-off Mustang Mach-E with its seven electric motors and high downforce is ready for the track, drag strip or gymkhana course – anywhere it can show how electric propulsion promises extreme Mustang performance. Making the Mustang Mach-E | Mustang Mach-E | Ford

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21, 2019 – Ford introduced the world to the newest member of the Mustang family – the all-electric Mach-E – and now it is sharing the story of how the all-new SUV came to be in a new short documentary film, “Making the Mustang Mach-E.” Ford’s first long-range electric vehicle was not originally going to be a Mustang, but after Jim Hackett took over as the company’s president and CEO in May 2017 and created a dedicated electric vehicle team – Ford Team Edison – the team shifted gears to create what would be the Mustang Mach-E. In Austria in 1980, just a year after four-wheel drive cars became eligible to compete in the WRC, Audi debuted the first Quattro rally car and forever changed the sport. Over the next half of the decade (and onwards, if you count the Pikes Peak specials), these Audis would be subjected to a period of rapid iterative evolution that led to the short-wheelbase Sport Quattro models that helped define the infamously fast and dangerous era of Group B rallying.
