2014 Mercedes SSK

Ok, we know for quite some time that Mercedes-Benz is busy with a new model that may be named SSK.

This smaller sportscar is derived from the SLS mechanicals. It around 2014 the exotic SLS will receive a smaller, aluminum-bodied, V-6-powered coupe and roadster brother that is internally known as SLV. The six-cylinder engine destined to power the new lightweight sports car is code-named M276 and, in its most powerful form, should be good for about 400 hp. The twin-turbo, direct-injected V-6 will be mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Unlike the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox in the SLS AMG, however, the SLV's transmission will feature two more gears. Thats nine speeds to be exact.

If things go right, the $100,000 car should be ready by the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.
