Andonis Says: Shooting Brake Renaissance

Don't tell me, I didn't tellya.
The Renaissance is a cultural movement from the 14th to the 17th century from Europe. The term itself comes from the Italian Rinascimento, and the French Renaissance, from ri- "again" and nascere "to be born" and basically it marked the entire cultural evolution of mankind. It was the cultural bridge between the Middle ages and the Modern era. It was the return of the classical sources once again redefining the entire intellectual perspective of sciences and art. Sculpture, painting, philosophy and education has been brought onto another level. In one word Renaissance was Revolution.

Do you remember the classic aristocratic style that was the high end of every luxury brand? Do you remember the sculptural flawless lines with the perfect proportions? Does the name Flying Star or P1800ES ring the bell? Apparently for some manufacturers it does. The Mercedes made probably the first move. After the Ferrari FF it will be a real fashion to create shooting brakes. Again. A few months ago we heard that the famous design house,Touring Superleggera, is serious about producing some limited edition Bentleys. Among Jaguar's future surprises there will be a two door station wagon also. Well, we call that a shooting brake. Not only Jaguar is planning its XF version of this rare automotive category, but also Porsche is talking more and more about a shooting brake version of its successful Panamera. The goals are clear. If VAG wants to take world supremacy by 2018 in terms of car industry, Porsche has to increase its sales by 30%. Panamera is successful allright, but it is only produced in one (4-door) version. After the refresh, the coupe and the convertible versions are also expected.

Once again

What is this if not a Renaissance
