24 Heures du Mans 2025 - HIGHLIGHTS AFTER 2 HOURS

Supercar Supremacy - The Neighbors Are Going to be Pissed. Very Pissed.

Waking up the neighbors. That's exactly what McLaren is doing.

Not too long ago it was all about the Porsche 959 and the Ferrari F40. Then Lamborghini came along (again) with the Diablo, and things were set for awhile. Of course Ferrari had to build the Enzo, and then many things happened. We might say the first world war was over. Kinda. The second world war took place after the Carrera GT and the Murcielago stepped in. We are of course not talking about the BMW-powered McLaren F-1 and the Veyron once beaten by the Corvette Sledgehammer. Things got a little quiet now. Lamborghini made the Gallardo and all its derivatives, Ferrari the 458 and Porsche...every time something new like a 911, while Corvette had its own agenda. So the status was business as usual. Until now. The smell of war is in the air again. The world war #3 is about to break out.
After defeating the Ferrari 458 Italia in a drag race, McLaren is not relaxing. It's just not in its nature. The successor of the F-1 (pictured above), the top-dog, the P12 is currently under development with some high revving large twin-turbo V8 capable of racing the Ferrari "pseudo-Enzo" FX70 on the road packing more than 825horses under the beautiful carbon body designed by Frank Stephenson. By the time, the California's successor comes out in around 2014, McLaren will be waiting just around the corner with its P10 to take on the new Ferrari with performance matching the Castriota-designed 599 GTB successor. And thats a lot. We're talking about the new 6,3 V12 with at least 700 prancing horses. So will the neighbors be pissed? Go figure. And the name of Lamborghini wasn't even mentioned. Lamborghini's anniversary is nearing, you know. But that's just another story.
