With the Mercedes-Benz SLR anything but a successful super sports car, the designers and technicians at Mercedes-Benz AMG have succeeded in creating a masterpiece with the current SLS 63 AMG. And as often as we see the SLS on the roads these days, the top-line sports car version from AMG also seems to be experiencing rapid sales. As a result, the specialists at KICHERER Fahrzeugtechnik have now put together and released an impressive upgrade for their comprehensive SLS fine tuning programme.

It's a high-tech vehicle with a racy name ‘SUPERCHARGED GT', flashy, striking and technically well-thought-out in every detail. Maintaining their high standards, KICHERER uses carbon-fibre exclusive to
the motorsport industry, both internally and externally. The exterior package for the SLS consists of a hand-crafted front grille unit with large, vertical fins, which make the front of the sports car look extremely aggressive, and which pay homage to the 300 SL Carrera Panamericana, from 1952. On top of that, there is a carbon front lip spoiler, a very discreet rear diffusor and carbon fins for the front fenders and the engine bonnet. The eye-catching, exclusive, satin-matte black film covering the complete bodywork really accentuates the lines of the SLS SUPERCHARGED GT.

Following an exhaustive development effort, involving many test kilometres over a period of a year, the specialists at KICHERER have designed and produced their own supercharger system at their home in Stockach on Lake Constance in Germany, a world first, and pivotal to the enhanced performance of the
SLS. The clever arrangement of the supercharger's components means that at first glance on lifting the bonnet, you would not know that the vehicle was supercharged! Added to this is the fact that the newly-developed supercharger system requires that only very few original parts need to be changed out. For
example, the upper engine air intake is retained and no additional deflection / guide pulleys are required for the belt drive, thus preventing annoying background noise and interference. The supercharging pressure from one of the four outlet nozzles is displayed to the driver in digital or analogue from on the tachometer. For those wanting more information, a special app has been developed to provide additional telemetry data.

With the KICHERER supercharger system on-board, the SLS 6.3 performance increases to about 700 bhp and maximum torque increases to around an impressive 840 Nm. With this added power, the SUPERCHARGED GT achieves 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, and, thanks to the removal of the electronic Vmax (maximum speed) blocker, it can reach a top speed of well
over 300 km/h.

At over 3000 revs, as the accelerator is pressed to the floor, the driver experiences a fantastic sensation of power as the pressure in the KICHERER supercharger increases. The vehicle's performance is crowned with the back pressure controlled KICHERER stainless-steel flap sports exhaust system, spoiling the passengers with its deep throaty V8 sound.

The assembly, installation and maintenance of the supercharger system are carried out exclusively on the KICHERER Fahrzeugtechnik premises. As a matter of course, the KICHERER performance guarantee is included.

KICHERER's in-house RS-1 light-weight forged wheels are both exclusive and flashy. The hand-crafted three-part wheels are size 10.0J x 20 inch up front and 11.5J x 21 inch at the back.

The SLS SUPERCHARGED GT is equipped with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres for perfect adhesion to the road. Special high-tech coilovers give superb grip and are equipped with lift function that allows the chassis to be raised and lowered by approximately 30 mm with the press of a button. Optionally, damper hardness can be adjusted. Altogether this provides the ultimate in safe driving and driving pleasure.

KICHERER has had special carbon-fibre accessories made for the interior of the SUPERCHARGED GT, which refine the door interiors, the centre console, the door sill protectors, the rear of the seats and
the stowage tray.
Kicherer Supersport GT 12.10.2012
All up, KICHERER have created a seriously impressive top-line sports car that is guaranteed to have you coming back for more!

Chevrolet Concept Cars: Ten Of Our Favorites

Most celebrations of Chevrolet's centennial surround the automaker's production vehicles. Why not? After all, this is the brand that birthed legends like the Bel Air, Corvette, and Camaro, among others. Those vehicles are certainly worth celebrating, but we can't help but wonder: what about the Chevrolet cars that never saw a production line? We've scoured through the history books (and our memory banks) to pick out ten of our all-time favorites.

Aventador S | The design draws inspiration from predators and aeronautics

1985 Audi Sport Quattro: The Group B Homologation Special

In Austria in 1980, just a year after four-wheel drive cars became eligible to compete in the WRC, Audi debuted the first Quattro rally car and forever changed the sport. Over the next half of the decade (and onwards, if you count the Pikes Peak specials), these Audis would be subjected to a period of rapid iterative evolution that led to the short-wheelbase Sport Quattro models that helped define the infamously fast and dangerous era of Group B rallying. The relatively lax nature of the Group B regulations gave rise to a number of downright ferocious cars from Audi’s competitors (most notable being Lancia and Peugeot), and while it was not the most successful nor technologically advanced of these top tier cars by the end of the Group B era, the Sport Quattro is a worthy poster child for the lot of them—being first to the punch has its advantages. The advent of the Group B class provided manufacturers with practically every leeway imaginable given they adhered to a basic s...
