Mi sono molto divertito, nei giorni scorsi, a leggere le reazioni dei frequentatori del sito di Quattroruote, riguardo la notizia del possibile arrivo di una versione pepata e marchiata HF della Lancia Ypsilon, confrontandole con i risultati del sondaggio poi postato riguardo l’interesse o meno per la messa in produzione di questa versione e anche con le reazioni su Facebook alla notizia.
I frequentatori più accesi del sito erano in larga parte critici, quelli del sondaggio in larghissima parte favorevoli e quelli su Facebook quasi tutti entusiasti.
In pratica si sono colte le diverse anime che un costruttore deve valutare prima di prendere una decisione: i più “esperti”, quasi sempre scettici, la base più allargata degli appassionati di automobili molto più possibilisti, e i tantissimi che poi vanno in concessionaria e di fatto sono i più vergini, quelli con meno tabù e meno prevenzioni, molto più aperti alle novità.
Poi sono andato più a fondo all’argomento perché da vecchio lancista e ex rallista m’è subito venuta l’acquolina in bocca sognando quello che una piccola fetta (ma tutt’altro che lontana dalle posizioni che contano nel Gruppo Fiat-Chrysler) cova da tempo: l’idea di tornare a gareggiare nei rally con il marchio Lancia lasciando la pista al marchio Alfa Romeo.
Così ho sorriso leggendo molti commenti sfiduciati riguardo alle possibili evoluzioni sportive della piccola Ypsilon, considerata una vettura su misura per le donne, e di per sé assolutamente inadatta ad un eventuale impiego in corsa.
La mia età avanzata mi ha fatto tornare indietro nel tempo, a tutte le volte che ho visto nascere vetture da rally destinate a un glorioso impiego che erano partite da basi assolutamente improbabili. La MG Metro 6R4 Gr.B, la Saab 96 due tempi, la Datsun 1600 SSS, la Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR, per arrivare alla straordinaria Fiat 131 Abarth che muoveva da una berlina ottima per la famiglia, ma niente di più, per diventare un bolide ultracompetitivo capace di una tenuta di strada e un innesto di curva inimmaginabile per le migliori Gran Turismo in circolazione e anche in gara.
Ma sì, nelle competizioni volere è potere: con il denaro giusto, tutto si trasforma in maniera incredibile. Pensate forse che Hyundai Wrc sia lontana parente della i20 stradale? E forse la Polo Wrc che ha dominato la stagione appena conclusa ha qualche cosa, se non un po’ di faccia, in comune con la pur ottima versione stradale?
Così ho fatto disegnare al nostro magico Poblete una possibile versione Wrc della Lancia Ypsilon e mi sono messo a sognare. Ho pensato a che cosa i progettisti avrebbero potuto piazzare sotto la carrozzeria, ho immaginato che cosa i meccanici del vecchio reparto corse saprebbero ancora combinare sui campi di gara e ho passato una notte felice con le memorie (mie di quarant’anni fa) e le illusioni (su quello che potrebbe accadere). Perché credetemi, Dio solo volesse che fosse vero, qualsiasi vettura può diventare vincente, soprattutto con le regole attuali che impongono di fatto la stessa architettura e le stesse potenze.
Dite che ho sognato e basta? Probabilmente sì, ma che male c’è?
